Policy That Blocks Nt 4.0 Drivers Windows 10
Jan 11, 2020 very good article, but there is a problem, but will not work with windows vista home premium: the group policy editor is not available, neither can user control, which would provide an indirect path to it be installed. Jan 15, 2019 NT 4.0 policy that blocks adding printer drivers? Does anyone know what is causing this? I have one computer in a company of over 8000 computers that won't allow me to add the print queue for a company wide network printing set up. 'windows cannot connect to the printer. The printer drive is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0 drivers.' Is there a way I can disable this policy and if so how and where can I do it?

This behavior when trying to install older drivers to Windows 10 is by design. We would recommend that you contact your printer manufacturer for updated drivers for Windows 10. You may be able to find workarounds when you search over the internet but this includes editing group policy settings or editing the registry. Sep 03, 2017 Windows 10 blocks older drivers and because of that you had to set some setting in windows group police editor. In this case, we suggest to uninstall the previous printer drivers. Because of this after this process previous printers need to be reinstalled and update the drivers.
I am now starting to work with the 'Windows NT 4Workstation'.
I have freed up a dedicated partition for it on my home-PC (whichI will then operate in Dual-Boot with
However, when setting up NT4 at work, I had already to learn, that NT 4 is really different and has now only the pretty looksin common with Windows95:
If your system has both a 3.5' and 5.25' floppy drive, make sure that you are NOT using the BIOS-feature of 'swapping Floppy drive characters', because NT ignores that and then you are in all kind of compatibility problems ! |

Do you manage your own Mail-Server ? Is your Mail-Server protected against virus-attacks ? Try the new Freeware version of GFI MailSecurity : The freeware version basically allows administrators to scan all their mail for viruses at no cost! If they want other security features and multiple virus engines, then that would require purchasing a license. Even if they already have antivirus installed, another anti virus engine on their email server will just double up their security at no cost. The full release about the freeware version is available at : http://www.gfi.com/news/en/msec8freeware.htm. |
I strongly suggest to follow an advise, which I found myself inseveral books on Windows NT:
'During installation of Windows NT4, do NOTdefine the network !
Get first the basic system WITHOUTnetworking properly up-and-running (including the sound-board, ifyou have one) and THEN in a second phasesetup/configure the networking'

Was trying to setup an HP Color LaserJet 2600n as a shared printer on a Windows Server 2003 computer.
Nope!
Here is the wordy Microsoft error message:
Policy Blocks Nt 4.0 Drivers Windows 10
Printer driver was not installed. Windows cannot install this printer until your system administrator first installs a new driver for it on the print server. Or, to install a driver on your computer without the assistance of your system administrator, run the printer troubleshooter and select the option that contains this message:
“The current printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 kernel-mode drivers”
This is the latest driver from HP so I guess it’s been around a while. It sounds like a group policy setting is preventing me from using the old drivers so…

from command prompt to tell me which policies are applied. Then opened each in GPEDIT.MSC and set the: Computer Configuration Administrative Templates Printers Disallow installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers setting to “Disabled”

If this branch doesn’t show up (didn’t for me on local policy), right-click on Adminstrative Templates, click “Add/Remove Templates” and add the “system.adm” template from the policy templates (in C:windowsinf)
GPUPDATE /FORCE didn’t do anything for me. Will reboot the computer tonight and see if that fixes it.

How To Disable Policy That Blocks Nt 4.0 Drivers Windows 10
After a reboot, windows will still not let me install the Kernel-mode drivers. So back to HP and grabbed the driver again and this time it worked.
